MUSIC PRODUCTION WORKSHOP

This music production workshop is geared toward students who are new to music production or those who already have a basic foundation and are looking improve their craft. The lessons are taught using Logic Pro. However, all concepts and instruction is universal and can be applied for use on any recording software program (DAW).

Students will be introduced to basic concepts, fundamentals, and terminology. We can make music in your choice of genre (Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, Classical, etc.). Students will be guided step by step on how to create a new project from scratch. You will learn:

Composition How to start a song. How to create a beat. How to arrange sections.

Recording How to track various instruments, add effects, and program loops. Microphone types and positioning.

  Mixing How to combine and balance the different instruments and tracks. How to use audio effects such as EQ, Compression, and Reverb. How to use plug ins.

  Creativity Explore layering, improvisation, and how to generate interesting ideas.

  Critical Listening Analyze where sounds fit sonically in the stereo field, how to balance them and dissect techniques used in popular music.

Equipment What gear is needed to create a home studio. How to sound treat your space.
